An estimated 6 percent of Americans suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a type of depression, and an additional 14 percent experience a milder form of the disorder known as the winter blues. SAD strikes during the winter months and is associated with reduced exposure to sunlight. People with SAD suffer from irritability, apathy, carbohydrate craving and weight gain, increases in sleep time, and general sadness. Researchers believe that SAD is caused by a malfunction in the hypothalamus, the gland responsible for regulating responses to external stimuli. Stress may also playa role in SAD. Certain factors seem to put people at risk for SAD. Women are four times more likely to suffer from SAD than are men. Although SAD occurs in people of all ages, those between 20 and 40 appear to be most vulnerable. Certain families appear to be at risk. And people living in northern states in the United States are more at risk than are those living in southern states. During the winter, there are fewer hours of sunlight in northern regions than in southern areas. An estimated 10 percent of the population in northern states such as Maine, Minnesota, and Wisconsin experience SAD, whereas fewer than 2 percent of those living in southern states such as Florida and New Mexico suffer from the disorder.

There are some simple but effective therapies for SAD. The most beneficial appears to be light therapy, in which a patient is exposed to lamps that mimic sunlight. After being exposed to this lighting each day, 80 percent of patients experience relief from their symptoms within four days. Other forms of treatment for SAD are diet change(eating more foods high in complex carbohydrates), increased exercise, stress management techniques, sleep restriction(limiting the number of hours slept in a 24-hour period), psychotherapy, and antidepressants.

A home is a very personal thing, which is why everyone wants to make their home the best that it can possibly be. Interior design is one thing, but now many more people are starting to design their own home and build it from the ground up.

Even if you don’t know anything about designing houses then you can still help to create your dream home by assisting a contractor with decisions. The success of your home will depend on the design, rather than the team that you are employing. You might think that you are excited about your dream home, but how do you know what you actually want. How should you design and lay out your room. You should take some time to plan your own home design, and do so carefully.

Open House

The first way of getting some inspiration is to go out and visit other houses which are already completed. There are many open houses which you can visit for inspiration and ideas. Sometimes people will spend all day driving around looking at houses to get some great ideas. As well as getting ideas about your home you can also see some interesting sights that you wouldn’t otherwise have seen.

It’s a good idea if you can go out on a Sunday as you should be able to visit some of the open houses which are held by a number of different estate agents. This can be a really good way to get some ideas and see how they can really work in your own home.

Magazines

There are also a number of perfect living magazines which might give you just the right idea for your own home. Many people think that it’s silly to look at these magazines, however it really is a good idea. You need to spend some time checking out these magazines so that you can get inspiration and ideas.

There are several behavioral traits found in the top personal trainers that we encounter:

- the ability to take massive action
- a passion for excellence
- constant self-improvement
- and several others I’ll be addressing soon.

But one that we’ve found to be consistent among virtually all personal trainers enjoying business and financial success is the willingness to market consistently.

What Do I Mean When I Say "Market Consistently"?

I’ll try to explain: There exist two camps of personal trainers. There are the vast majority who engage in what we call random acts of marketing - meaning: here and there, haphazardly, and with no consistency, they will try various marketing ideas, when they feel like it, or in reaction to declining business.

However there is zero consistency or continuity to their personal training marketing.

The other camp of personal trainers (MUCH smaller in number but also the most successful ones) are doing marketing monthly.

In fact, they typically have monthly plan of action which usually includes, at a bare minimum:

- Sending a monthly newsletter, designed to drive in referrals, reactivations, and to "widen the circle" of new business via educational articles, etc.

- External lead generation marketing like direct mail, a lead generation web site, ads and other techniques.

- Doing at least one speaking engagement to an affinity group or at their own facility with invited guests.

- Promoting something to their existing and former personal training clients. Either a referral program, a new offering or a back-end service or product.

And this is just the minimum.
